Founder and owner of GoodWorks PR

With more than 20 years' experience as a public relations leader, writer, strategic planner, researcher and media expert, Macy makes GOOD work for her clients. She uses her diverse toolbox of experience and strategies to help businesses and nonprofits grow toward a sustainable future.

As a native Oregonian, Macy might be expected to be a green advocate of the environment, but her commitment to sustainability extends to global issues, too. Macy earned her doctorate from the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication by researching international corporations’ images and ethics. She focused on Starbucks Coffee’s response to public pressure for fair trade practices.

Macy feels fortunate to offer her public relations acumen to her values-based clients. Her experience includes strategic planning, research, writing, editing, branding, fundraising, media relations and event planning for healthcare, nonprofit and sustainable organizations and businesses.

In the Portland area, Macy has directed communications and marketing for non-profit organizations such as the American Heart Association, Washington County Historical Society & Museum and Goodwill Industries. She helps upstream companies such as Rose City Mortgage Specialists publicize and market their services and commitment to social responsibility. Accredited by the Public Relations Society of America, she served as president of the Portland Metro chapter in 2002.

Networking in groups such as the Oregon Natural Step Network and the Greener Good Women’s Marketing Group, Macy sees that many consumers want to purchase products and services from businesses that serve the greater good. Her commitment as a global citizen was strengthened when she adopted her daughter from Guatemala years ago.

Macy volunteers for and promotes local organizations such as 10,000 Villages, Multnomah Village Business Association and Wilson High School. Balancing her priorities to family, community and business takes strategic planning. Fortunately, that’s one of her many skills.

Why GOOD really does work

Intriguing words and images that relay your business or organization's brand are great. However, the good works that ground your values are equally important.

At GoodWorks PR, we believe that good truly does work. We will help you strategize compelling statements about your organization's work, and we will connect those words and images to the difference you are making in the world. We will help you create and sustain invaluable relationships with the media and other groups that are key to your success. Like you, our values of environmental and human sustainability infuse everything we do.

Studies show that a large and growing base of consumers want products and services that connect with their values. GoodWorks Public Relations will deliver the message of your values and image to this important audience.
